Marine Habitat Mapping of Darwin Harbour

Since 2009, Geo Oceans has completed 18 marine habitat surveys in the Darwin Harbour region, including 14 marine habitat mapping surveys using the GO Visions™ towed camera technology.

Most surveys were commissioned by proponents of industrial development projects and were associated with the various statutory environmental approvals.

Collectively, these projects have created a large amount of data for the Darwin Harbour region. Geo Oceans was commissioned by the Northern Territory Government to collate the new with the existing benthic habitat datasets of the Darwin Harbour area.
The existing data had been collected by separate proponents, often using different methods and habitat classification schemes.

Geo Oceans processed all the data under a consistent habitat classification scheme (CATAMI) and delivered the collated data as a single dataset.
