Autonomous Surveys

Geo Oceans are experts in the design and execution of offshore surveys using unmanned and remotely operated survey technologies, including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) and Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASV).

Unmanned platforms can be equipped with a wide range of sensing technologies, scanners and sampling systems, allowing our team to provide surveys such as site investigations, appraisals, subsea inspections, mapping, environmental compliance and assessment.

Our vehicles can also play a vital role in reactive and emergency response efforts such as oil or pollution spills, natural disasters, or severe weather events by rapidly gathering and reporting data required by emergency response teams.

Subsea Inspection

Geo Oceans can provide highly cost effective and efficient subsea inspection surveys using our light class Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV). These portable technologies can be rapidly mobilised to perform a subsea inspection from small vessels of opportunity, from an offshore asset or directly from the shore, and only

require a small specialist team to operate.

We have been successful in the execution of several pipeline inspections and have been able to demonstrate these vehicles can not only deliver exceptional survey results but can significantly lower project cost, schedule, logistic effort and risks.

Our Subsea Inspection Services Include:
  • Subsea Pipeline Inspection (position, free spans, debris etc.)
  • Subsea Infrastructure Position Surveys
  • Pipeline / Cable Route Surveys
  • Leak Detection Surveys
  • General Visual Inspections (GVI)
  • Scour Monitoring

Site Investigation

Geo Oceans provide a broad array of site investigation and appraisal services to gain a clear understanding of the marine environment.

Our Site Appraisal Services Include:
  • Hydrographic and Geophysical Surveys
  • Environmental and Ecological Surveys
  • Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Surveys
  • Benthic Habitat Mapping
  • Debris Surveys

Regulatory Compliance

Demand for ocean monitoring programs is increasing due to more activity in the marine sector and the requirement for greater environmental accountability. There is also a growing awareness that ocean robotic platforms (surface and subsurface) are extremely effective in enhancing existing ocean survey techniques.

Geo Oceans has a comprehensive understanding of the offshore regulatory environment and has executed numerous data acquisition campaigns to support offshore operations and ensure compliance.

Our Support Services Include:
  • Produced Formation Water (PFW) Discharge Monitoring
  • Dredging and Spoil Disposal Monitoring
  • Water and Sediment Sampling/Testing
  • Scour Monitoring

Emergency Response

Rapid mobilisation is key to any emergency response effort, and our expert technicians are specially trained for rapid deployment in the event of an oil spill or natural disaster. The lightweight and highly portable nature of our Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) allows us to mobilise in a matter of hours and once on-site can enter the water directly from shore or from the side of a vessel.

Our Services Include:
  • Post-cyclonic infrastructure surveys
  • Pollution event monitoring
  • Water and sediment sampling/testing
